Paths into Stillness – A Journey into the Sahara

We offer you an authentic desert experience – with plenty of space and time for meditation, retreat, and the simple joy of being. The desert is a place where space and time begin to shift – and sometimes even dissolve. Ten days are an ideal period to feel this transformation and to turn your gaze inward. During these days, we immerse ourselves in the vast and silent landscapes of the Moroccan Sahara.

Arrival

Upon arrival in Marrakesh, we spend the first evening in this welcoming city – the gateway to the Orient. The next day, we cross the Atlas Mountains by minibus and follow the great oasis of the Draa River to our starting point at the northern edge of the Djebel Banis. There, our guides and camels await us – along with a lovingly prepared dinner. The first night is spent in a tent or under the shimmering desert sky.

Journey through the Desert

In the morning, our journey begins – on foot or on camelback. For ten days we leave technology and the urban world behind. Our path into stillness leads us into the foothills of the Djebel Banis, a mountain range that separates the pre-Sahara from the great desert. We spend a few days among these hills before heading south toward the dunes, wandering through the wide sandscapes until we return to an oasis at the end of our journey.

We are guided by local nomads who share their warmth, humor, and wisdom with us. The paths we walk are their paths – away from tourist routes, deep into the silence of the desert.

Life in the Desert

Reducing life to its essentials opens the inner view. Thus, this outer journey becomes an inner one – a return to our own sources. Daily meditations and Hatha Yoga sessions accompany us along the way.

Upon request, I (Karla Ahansal) can create your individual Human Design Chart. We can discuss it together and use it as a guide for your inner journey.

In the middle of the desert journey, there is the possibility to withdraw for three days of individual retreat. Those who prefer to remain in the group can meditate, practice yoga, observe silence, or simply listen within at the base camp.

Accommodation and Meals

Our team takes care of the food and the camp. Depending on the weather, we eat outdoors under the sky or inside the large nomad tent. Sleeping is on mattresses in small one- or two-person tents – and those who wish may also sleep under the open sky in the 1000-star hotel.

All meals are vegetarian and freshly prepared. For both spiritual and hygienic reasons, we refrain from eating meat in the desert. Drinking water is clean mineral water.
