Who we are

Brahim Ahansal

weristderbossBrahim was born and raised as a nomad and Berber of the Ait Atta tribe in the desert of southern Morocco. As the economic situation of his family became increasingly difficult due to the ongoing drought, he began, in 1996, to travel occasionally to the oasis town of Zagora to earn a living in tourism. Since then, it has become his heartfelt wish to share his love for the desert with his guests. With deep knowledge and intuitive sensitivity, he guides them to places his family has known and inhabited for generations.

His tours lead far away from the usual tourist routes – into a traditional world where there are still secrets to discover.

With joy and humility, he conveys his deep connection to his homeland, the landscape, and the nomadic way of life.

Despite never having formal schooling, Brahim has built the Caravane Rose du Sable over the years and now works alongside trusted, like-minded nomads. The caravanserai has since become a stable place of work for a small circle of companions who can contribute their skills and take on personal responsibility within a shared vision.

Karla Ahansal

karlaI was born in Germany – the daughter of a painter and an architect. My path first led into science: I studied chemistry, earned a doctorate in theoretical chemistry and physics, and spent several years at various international research institutes.

Yet soon I followed an inner calling toward healing – a direct and personal training with Master Johann Whang, a Korean Do master. After several fulfilling years with my own practice and yoga school in Constance, another call arose – the call of the desert.

There I met my husband, Brahim Ahansal, who at that time still lived in his father’s tent. Together, in 2006, we founded the Caravane Rose du Sable in the Draa Oasis, near the village of Ouled Driss close to M’Hamid el Ghizlane (Province of Zagora). It was meant to be a place of work and encounter for nomads – and with joy and perseverance, we brought this vision to life.

As the wife of a nomad, I spent much time with the family in the tent and found a natural, unadorned connection to the desert – beyond romantic ideas. I have gathered a deep knowledge of the land and its people, of the fauna and flora, and of the practical aspects of well-being in desert life.

For almost thirty years, I have accompanied people as a Do master (Do = the Taoist path), meditation and yoga teacher, Human Design consultant, coach, and healing practitioner. My teacher, the Korean Do master Johann Whang, continues to guide and inspire my path.

My work bridges comparative religion and lived spirituality – always focused on the journey inward. Silence is my most faithful companion.

Guidance during the Desert Journeys (Paths into Silence)

During the desert journeys, I gladly share my knowledge as a healing practitioner, Do master, Human Design consultant, and yoga teacher. Upon request, I offer small practice sessions: silent or guided meditation, gentle Hatha Yoga, movement awareness, or breathing exercises.

Everything is voluntary – not a program, but an invitation to listen within and discover what feels right in the moment.
