We offer genuine experience in the desert with a lot of space and time for meditation and other. For desert lovers and those who would like to discover their love for the desert this intensive journey is the right choise. During 11 days you will immerse in the beautiful and various landscapes of the Moroccan Sahara, experience infinite open spaces and silence where the boundaries of space and time dissolve. The reduction to the essential helps us getting away from daily routine and obligations and allows contemplation.

You should bring with you:

The mood for a reduced, relaxed and decelerated live in outdoor nature.
The curiosity to discorver new aspects of the own self and the will to keep the time of silence.
The joy being part of the whole and to help occasionally at the daily work.
A good physical condition is usefull to enjoy the journey. If you are unsure please contact us. For most of the problems we find a solution.

Number of participants:

In respect of the objectives of the journey the number of participants is limited to 8 persons. In case three or less persons have registrated the journey will be still carried out. However, the price will be increased by 200 Euro/person.

We happy to help you finding cheap flights. We recommend to book as soon as possible. Sometimes you find cheaper flights if you arrive or depart one or more days earlier or later. In this case please do not hesitate to contact us organising the hotel for you.

Living and working like the nomads

We live and work like nomads and get an authentic view into their everyday life.

We meat in Marrakech at the first day. Depending on the arrival time we might visit some tourist attractions. After the overnight stay in our riad we start our journey in the morning across the Altas Mountains driving to the southern part of Morocco, the land of the nomads. In the late afternoon we arrive at our camp at the southern edgle of the Jebel Banis in the Sahara. Here we will live for the next week among nomads families.
The following seven days we will immerse into the live of the nomads who will teach us their craft. Karla Ahansal is the bridge between the cultures and people and is always at your disposal. We will spend the nights either in a tent or open air, depending on our personal taste.
The first four days we spend a the edge of the Jebel Banis. There we learn to work with metal, wood and wool, and in addition �sandfree� cooking. On the fifth day we move on with the camels into the sand. The camels carry our luggage while we are walking about four hours to our camp between the dunes of the wide extended sand area of Erg Chegagga. Here we will stay for three days.
Also here we work, enjoy the sand, have extend walks through the dunes und get ourselves into the landscape.
On the 10th day of our journey the off-road vehicle will pick us up to return to Marrakech. There we will spend one more night in our riad.

One night in the 1000-stars-hotel/Bivouac

Spend one night in the desert underneath the starry sky

You can arrive with your own car at the camping ground at our oasis. You will then ride on a guided camel into the desert to our Bivouac. There you spend one night either underneath the starry sky or in a bed with matress, linen and woolen blanket. The next morning you return after the breakfast.

Group tours

Periodically we offer group tours which you may join. If you do not find a suitable date, please contact us. We make a note in our list with your desired date.

Furthermore our tours are trekking tours. If you wish to ride, please let us know. We tell you the extra price for the riding animal. Experience shows that normally one animal can be shared by two persons. We try to find a partner for you.

You will be accompanied by experienced employees (nomads). At least one guide speaks French and most of the time also Engish.

5 days tour to the dune Erg Chegagga

Bonou 1st day:
After breakfast we start with loaded dromedaries from Bonneau. We leave the valley and travel along the Draa. The landscape changes between tableland and sand dunes. On the half way to Sid Naji we will have a midday break. In the afternoon we continue our journey to Sid Naji, the grave of a Marabous (a holy person). There we will open our night lodging.

2nd day:
We continue our track in the immediate proximity of the Draa valley. After the midday break we walk on to Erg Sahar, a large sand dune. Here we will spend the second night. On this path we will find dunes, tableland and vegetation because of the proximity of the Draa valley

3rd day: walk on the tableland
The track leads to Erg Sdrah across the tableland where you will find small sand dunes. At the large Erg Sdrah dune we will spend the night.

4th day:
The goal today is Chegagga, the second largest dune in Morocco, which is up to 200 m hight. In the evening we camp at the food of the dune.

5th day:
After breakfast the off-road vehicles picks us up and drive us back to Bonneau where we have lunch. The afternoon is for free disposal. We offer a visit in the museum, which is located in the oldest house of Ouled Driss as well as a walk through the Kasbah von Ouled Driss and Bonneau.

Example 2: 4 days trekking with camels

4 day trekking

1st day:

We continue our track in the immediate proximity of the Draa valley. After the midday break we walk on to Erg Sahar, a large sand due. Here we will spend the second night. On this path we will find dunes, tableland and vegetation because of the proximity of the Draa valley.

3rd day:
We track leads across the tableland where you will find small sand dunes to Ouad Naam, a river bed which comes from north from the Jebel Bani. We will have a midday break. In the evening we will spend the night in the tents close to the well near Ouad Naam.

4th day:
Through a sandy area we return to Bonneau, where we can arrive either in the afternoon or evening, depening on your wishes. Maybe time is left for a walk through the Kasbah of Ouled Driss and Bonneau.

Example 3: 5 days trekking with camels combined with the off-road vehicle

5th day:

Of couse you can stay at our oasis, as many days and nights as you want. You are always welcome. You can choose between a double bedroom built with mud in traditional style. The furnishing of the room is everywhere the same: wooden beds with mattresses, fresh lining and woolen blankets. You have common showers with warm water and toiletts separated for male and female.

Desert journey with your own group

Come with your own group

If you wish to go to the desert with a group, we are most happy to plan the whole journey together with you, from airport to airport. We work together with very reliable transport companies und riads so that we can organise a stay outside the desert. Depending on the size of the group the organiser will obtain a reduction or even a discount of up to 100 %.

Prices

Pricing policy

We always try to find a price of our service which is satisfys you and us. Unfortunately Morocco is no longer a low-cost country. Which means the realy good security apparatus costs money. We pay our employees above the usual rate, which has not been changed for the last 15 years. Our view of point is: Good payment for good work!

One night in the Bivouac, half board and a camel ride: 400 Dirham per person.
One night on the camping ground with half board: 150 Dirham per person.
You will find prices for group trips in the adequate section.

If you plan an individual trip the prices depend strongly on the number of days and participants, on the time of the year and composition of the journey. To give you an idea: trekking only costs between 50 and 65 Euro per adult and day. Children get a price reduction according to their age between 25 and 50 %.

Additional riding animals cost 15 Euro per day and animal. If you plan to finish a journey with a car, so that the animals need several days for their trip back this will charged extra. Please contact us for a more detailed offer.
